Healius case study
Healius (formerly Primary Health Care) is a leading Australian healthcare company operating an expansive network of medical centres, pathology labs, diagnostic imaging, and other specialist services. Healius provide affordable medical services to millions of Australians and have been supporting quality healthcare in Australia for over 30 years.
Taking its place at the forefront of the healthcare industry, Healius embarked on a complete brand redesign in 2018. Looking to enhance their image and establish a consistent look for their pathology service providers, the company began to explore new uniform options. Healius were looking for smart, easy-to-use solutions, reliability, a smooth transition and a quick turnaround from design to delivery.
During the evaluation process Healius were impressed with the ﬂexibility and customisation offered by DTY, as well as the quality of our products. Following a successful wear trial along with positive feedback and great performance ratings, DTY was awarded the contract.

Our uniform solution
Until recently, each of Healius’ 6 pathology brands had their own uniforms and the company lacked a cohesive and consolidated look across its extensive workforce.
With over 9,000 staff in various roles across 400+ locations Australia wide, we needed to design a robust uniform solution. Most importantly, we wanted to create a uniform that the staff would love and be proud to wear.
Inspired by the new Healius brand we designed a smart mix & match collection with a custom Healius print and bespoke Healius scrubs as the centrepiece of the collection. A curated selection of stock service suiting separates, chinos, Milano knitwear, soft knit blouses and shirts completes the look and provide multitude of options for every size, shape, role and climate. With such variety to choose from the collection is a true reﬂection of Healius’ diversity and inclusiveness.
Once the collection was approved we set out to make the uniform transition as smooth and as easy as possible.
The first step was to implement a dedicated online uniform platform for allocation management and staff ordering. To encourage employees to place orders early we offered a bonus wash bag for a limited time. To help employees identify the right sizes we went on a national roadshow with the collection, fitting as many people as we could in each location. We also sent sample sets to regional centres and included an online size calculator for each style.
As employees placed orders directly through the online platform we were then able to track ordering trends in real time and align our inventory estimates with manufacturing capacities for an efficient roll out.
We also helped Healius dispose of their old uniforms responsibly. Through organising a bulk donation to charity the garments will be sent to people in need instead of ending in landﬁll.
The Healius uniform roll out was completed slightly ahead of schedule in just under 2 weeks. For maximum efficiency all the orders were sorted by location so that employees in clinic received their orders at the same time. Each order was individually packaged and labeled to avoid mishaps.
The new collection was received with much enthusiasm and overwhelmingly positive feedback, with staff especially praising the quality, style and comfort of the garments. “I’ve been working here for 17 years and these are the best uniforms I’ve ever had” said Sandra.
Just as importantly, our online platform has greatly streamlined the uniform lifecycle, saving time for managers and staff. With easy ordering, allocation and user management and live reports at the click of a button, Healius are now more in control, can make better decisions and drive improvements in support of the company’s growth strategy.
